School is out! I think I am surviving but I have those days that I just want to run away or that school would be back in. But mostly we have been having lots of fun. We went to Salem ponds on Free fishing day but we had NO luck. I think the fish were sick of eating by the time we got there. We also went there a few weeks before with my sister and her girls and my little brother for a picnic and we let the kids play in the water. They absolutely loved it. I think Samantha may actually like to go swimming this year and not have to have me hold her the whole entire time.
Dallas and Savanah are going to a Summer Reading Recovery Program. They love it and I am glad that they do it because they can really use the help. Dallas has a Developmental Delay so he has been in resource and I am hoping he can catch up to the rest of the kids his age soon. Savanah I just think doesn't like to read and I struggle at home with her so I am hoping that she will do better for someone besides me and I really get frustrated easily so it probably will be the best for the both of us.
On Wednesday June 16th there was a Questar gas guy going around and doing "routine" gas leak checks. I know this cause I was out mowing the lawn when he came so he explained to me what he was doing in my yard. He got a "hit" on his sensor that there was a gas leak in my front yard. He told me that he found the leak and that when he is done with the rest of the block he would be back to test it again. He came back with another device that has a tube that you put in the ground which probably gives a better reading. Then he told me he had to make sure there wasn't any 10 feet from the house. He did the test and moved closer to my house, right next to my flower bed in front of the porch. I knew the minute he went closer to the house something was wrong. He looked at me and said "unfortunately I am getting readings right next to your house so I am going to have to have you evacuate your house" Seriously can anything else go wrong I was thinking. He also told me that he had to evacuate my next door neighbors on both sides of me. I proceeded to pack some things for the kids for overnight (JUST IN CASE), Savanah was freaking out because she was scared I had to keep telling her that we would be ok but she just didn't understand why we had to leave our house but everything would be ok. Plus she was worried about gunner, our dog. So I ended up taking him with us. He is a really good dog though so it was fun. I went and sat at my parents house FOREVER! This happened at 11 am. I came down around 530 or so cause they had to do a walk through in our house and test it. They said that when the contractors did the pipes they failed to put in a "o ring" where it was supposed to go. So basically it has probably been leaking for 2 years + cause we have been here for 2 years almost in September. They brought their big "vacuum" to suck out all the fumes from the gas after they fixed the pipe. The first guy at the beginning said it will only take 2-3 hours and when I came back the other guy said it could take up to 3+ days just depending on if they can get it all out and when but our ground was really tight so he thought it would take at least another day that they might end up putting us up in a hotel. Eventually around 730 they gave us the ok to get back into our house. What a relief. However, my poor tree that I got just a few months ago is dying now :( It was very nice tree and I got it for a great deal. They said if it did die that they would replace it but I really don't want to have to. I went to the nursery where we purchased it and showed them pictures of what it was doing and they said that it was because of the gas but to give it a couple weeks and it might come out of it. I guess I should be happy that it's just a tree because it could have been tons worse. I am grateful that it wasn't! I felt bad for my neighbor, they had high levels under their driveway so they were gone just as long as us but she is 8 months pregnant with 2 little girls and they don't have any family close so they just went shopping etc. I probably would have went crazy so I am grateful that I have family close enough that I could go there. Hopefully nothing else happens *knock on wood*
The next day I had to take Chad to the ER cause he was having a really hard time breathing. Ends up that it was because of his allergies and he had to go mow a lawn that it was almost as tall as him. So it aggravated his lungs which made him have a really bad reaction. He is now on a inhaler and Zyrtec which is helping tons, which is good since his job right now is to mow lawns since it's the summer. He works for a bank that he goes into foreclosed homes and secures, winterize, clean, mow lawns, etc. Basically whatever they want him to do. Thankfully it has been keeping him busy.
I think that is all I can do for now I am getting tired! Hopefully it won't be too long before my next post.
